How Many Letters Are In The Hawaii Alphabet?

In the early 19th century, American missionaries in Hawaii needed to formulate a coherent way to communicate with natives.  They needed to print bibles as well.  They proceeded to adapt the English language and come up with the Hawaiian Alphabet.  As early as 1821 a gentleman named Hiram Bingham was using macrons.  That might leave you SMH. 

The Hawaiian Alphabet only contains 12 letters: a, e, i, o, u, h, k, l, m, n, p and w. Every word ends with a vowel. A glottal stop is also used, called an \’okina (meaning cutting, \’oki meaning cut and na meaning -ing). It used to be called an \’u\’ina (meaning snap).  We wonder how this alphabet plays out on social media like Facebook, Twitter, and Tiktok.
