INTERESTING FACT
Andromeda Galaxy Facts
Closest spiral galaxy to our Milky Way galaxy is Andromeda and even traveling at the speed of light it would take 2 million years to reach it. Andromeda Galaxy, Milky Way, the Triangulum Galaxy, and about 30 smaller galaxies belong to a group called Local Group. There are 100 billion galaxies that we can observe. Prediction is that there is much more, but Hubble Space Telescope couldn't detect them. The Andromeda Galaxy and the Milky Way is predicted to merge within the next 5 billion years. In the event like this smaller galaxies are consumed by larger ones. Andromeda galaxy is twice as large as Milky Way.

I am Catholic as well and to be honest I do not know why people who believe in God are so annoyed and upset over the idea of science. Science and religion are not very different, they are both, in a way, telling the same type of story just from different perspectives, that is all.
i am catholic, as someone who does have faith, the whole science vs religion debate is very annoying. i have a simple solution.
Naturally physics in particular doesn't fit in with the bible, but this is the solution
We (religious people) all share the belief that god created everything.
THEREFORE;
God made science.
End of debate.
This post was off topic but i felt like it needed to be said.
On topic
you as an individual can die at anytime for any reason, AND this will much more likely happen far earlier than any cataclysm. With that said, either way, for an individual, dying is dying and i won't worry about the end of the universe or galaxy or humanity unless i can change it.
Update to my last post: A 2009 study indicates that although Andromeda has more stars than the aMilky Way Galaxy (1 trillion vs 200-400 billion), the two galaxies are about equal in mass.

And, Andromeda is NOT "twice as large as the Milky Way". Latest findings show they are similar in size. It is still debated whether Andromeda is larger or the Milky Way is larger. Here is one considered opinion from another Web site, including information from recent findings (ca. 2006-2007, within 3-4 year ago):
"Andromeda was believed to be the largest galaxy of the Local Group of galaxies, which consists of the Andromeda Galaxy, the Milky Way Galaxy, & the Triangulum Galaxy, & about 30 other smaller galaxies. Due to recent findings based on improved measurements & data, scientists now believe that the Milky Way contains more dark matter & may be the most massive in the grouping. However, recent observations by the Spitzer Space Telescope revealed that M31 contains one trillion stars, greatly exceeding the number of stars in our own galaxy. 2006 estimates put the mass of the Milky Way to be ~80% of the mass of Andromeda."
And being a Christian doesn't mean you have to close your mind to science and the estimates of time and distance. All truth is God's truth.
P.S. (Is that YOU in the video????)
Yo Splff! It's 6 BILLION years! Not million. And to the fact: How encouraging to our future generations!
