you as an individual can die at anytime for any reason, AND this will much more likely happen far earlier than any cataclysm. With that said, either way, for an individual, dying is dying and i won't worry about the end of the universe or galaxy or humanity unless i can change it.

I am Catholic as well and to be honest I do not know why people who believe in God are so annoyed and upset over the idea of science. Science and religion are not very different, they are both, in a way, telling the same type of story just from different perspectives, that is all.

I really agree wid whoever predicted. Still, there will be a end of the year sometime, right? so no use counting stars from other galaxies he he he lollllllllzzzz..................... but but but i'am really interested in that kinds of article aaye matey..........

Update to my last post: A 2009 study indicates that although Andromeda has more stars than the aMilky Way Galaxy (1 trillion vs 200-400 billion), the two galaxies are about equal in mass.

Oh, I missed something. Grammar again: The Milky Way and Andromeda galaxies ARE going to merge (Not IS going to merge)....

And, Andromeda is NOT "twice as large as the Milky Way". Latest findings show they are similar in size. It is still debated whether Andromeda is larger or the Milky Way is larger. Here is one considered opinion from another Web site, including information from recent findings (ca. 2006-2007, within 3-4 year ago):

"Andromeda was believed to be the largest galaxy of the Local Group of galaxies, which consists of the Andromeda Galaxy, the Milky Way Galaxy, & the Triangulum Galaxy, & about 30 other smaller galaxies. Due to recent findings based on improved measurements & data, scientists now believe that the Milky Way contains more dark matter & may be the most massive in the grouping. Regarding the Andromeda facts: Andromeda is 2.8 million light years from us, not 2 million. Regarding the number of galaxies, the correct grammar is that "there are many more", instead of "there is much more". Astronomers estimate that there are between 100 bill;ion and 200 billion stars in the Andomeda Galaxy.

And being a Christian doesn't mean you have to close your mind to science and the estimates of time and distance. All truth is God's truth.

hey guys..you dont have to wait for billion years to see what happen.yesterday i saw a dream..fairy angel(or may be Andromeda princess) came to me and said Andromeda is going to explode in 771 th hour from now or after 31 days.she also said the only way to survive is go to the caves under the ground....she tried to tell me something more.but she died in-front of my eyes and fade away....those who want to survive, pay attention to this message..but i'll stay on the ground to see what would it'll be for one last time..!

Andromeda is the closest spiral galaxy, the Milky Way has at least two satellite galaxies which are closer than Andromeda.
