Andromeda is the closest spiral galaxy, the Milky Way has at least two satellite galaxies which are closer than Andromeda.

i feel the scientist will get us a portal or so in the vfuture

Hello. I'm a Christian and I don't believe in all that millions and billions of years stuff. Did you mention about how old the universe is? Oh, and by the way, the end of the world will not come in 2012. It will come when nobody expects it!!! Nobody knows!!! They think they know, because they are all full of themselves and with their science "discoveries", like the millions and billions of years. But God says that Judgment Day, (The end of the world) will come when you least expect it. It could happen in 3 minutes. Or the next day. Or the next year. Or maybe even on your birthday, for Pete's sake!!! But when you make a theory of when the world will end, trust me, it will be wrong! God never says when Judgment Day will come, but He does say it will come when nobody expects it. And on Judgment Day, I'll know where I'll be! In Heaven! Because I'm a believer!!! Are you? Do you believe that Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontious Pilot, was crucified, died, and was buried? Then He decended into hell. The third day, He rose again from the dead and is seated at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty. From there He will come to judge the living and the dead. And I know that I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Communion of Saints, the ressurection of the body, and the life everylasting. AMEN!! Do you believe what I just wrote? I hope so! If you do, I'm looking forward to seeing you in Heaven! :)

How do you know all this? That's all I'm wondering........Let me guess what your answer is....Scientists theorize this. YES!! EXACTLY!! THEY THEORIZE IT!!!! Which means they're just GUESSING!!! I'm doing a galaxy report that's due on Monday. I'm doing this galaxy, the Andromeda, or Messier 31, or the M31. But still, thanks for the "science-view" of this subject.....
