The 4 Best Places To Go Surfing in the US

Surfing is one of the most adrenaline-pumping watersports today. You’re paddling out towards the water only to attempt to ride large barreling waves. Whether you’re new or experienced, young or old, surfing is an excellent activity for anyone wishing to get their blood pumping. All you need is a coastline and some great waves. Still, here are some of the four best places to go surfing in the US to help you plan your next adventure.

Hawaii

Hawaii is the ultimate surfing spot. Gorgeous white sands, crystal blue waters, and amazing waves to ride on the open sea. Not to mention, Hawaii is home to some of the most sumptuous seafood in the world. Some of the best surfing spots on the islands are Maalaea Bay and Punalau Beach in Maui, Hanalei Bay in Kauai, and Makaha Point in Oahu.

California

Naturally, you can’t talk about surfing without mentioning California. Like the lyrics from a Beach Boys song about surfboards, California and surf culture go hand-in-hand. From Santa Cruz to Malibu, there are many gorgeous beaches to try out. Whether you’re visiting for a day trip or spending the weekend at a seaside inn, catch some waves at Zuma Beach, Malibu Point, Pleasure Point, or Capitola Beach.

Florida

While home to alligators and humidity, Florida is also a popular surfing destination. In fact, it makes the list of the four best places to go surfing in the US because of the many beachfronts available. Cocoa Beach is one of the most famous surfing destinations in mainland America. Only 45 minutes from Orlando, Cocoa Beach has waves for both beginners and advanced surfers, with plenty of surf shops, cafes, and the Florida Surf Museum.

New England

Lastly, New England may not seem like a top surfing destination compared to Hawaii, California, or Florida, but don’t jump to conclusions. The tiny state of Rhode Island is home to many amazing surfing hotspots, such as Newport and Narragansett. Since many Rhode Island beaches have reef breaks, they provide excellent riding conditions all year. Not to mention, hurricane season tests your true capabilities.
