The original film wrote off a total of 78 cars, and this number just progressed throughout the process of the films, with the most being 350 for one film! The grand total of cars that were ruined throughout the franchise was 1,487, which equated to one car every 33 seconds! Not only that, but they are said to have spent an eye-watering 1 million dollars in auto transportation to get these cars to and from each set!

When Was the First Car Invented?

The first car was invented in the late 1800s in Europe – France and Germany. However, America swooped in relatively quickly to dominate the automotive industry by the first half of the twentieth century. 

This saw brands like Ford, Chrysler and General Motors pushed to the forefront of car production, taking over by the 1920s. After a hiatus through World War II, where automotive industries focused on military responsibility, production of automobiles soared in Europe and Japan to keep up with the newfound demand. It is now extremely easy to purchase cars and even use car home delivery to ship a car from anywhere in the world.

World War II Took Over the Automotive Industry

In the first world war, the automotive industry played a crucial role in producing military vehicles and other material to aid the war effort. However, World War II saw an interesting turn of events for the automotive industry, as not only did they produce several million military vehicles, the American automobile manufacturers were also asked to produce around 75 different types of essential military items, the majority of which didn’t have any relation to vehicles!
