The Seattle Seahawks were named after 20,365 entries came in as suggestions for the team’s name, 151 fans chose the Seattle Seahawks amongst other suggestions that included interesting sounding names like Seattle Rainbeams, Seattle Salty dogs, Washington Georges, Seattle Running Salmon and Seattle Pachyderms. Hence, the Seahawks joined the likes of the Green Bay Packers, Denver Broncos, Cleveland Browns, and Dallas Cowboys as NFL teams.
The first club owner Lloyd W. Nordstrum who was also a millionaire, never had the chance to see his team play. Unfortunately, he died of a hear attack eight months before the Seattle Seahawk’s first game ever kicked off.

On November 4, 1979, they managed to amass a negative seven yards when they were playing the Los Angeles, running on a 24-0 loss.

In fact, the home crowd was so loud that in 2005, the visiting New York Giants ended up committing a whopping 11 false start penalties.
