Kickstarter is an online platform oriented around helping primarily artists get a venture up and running. It is a way for aspiring musicians, artists, and others in creative fields to fund their projects via what is essentially crowdfunding. The people that provide funding in small pieces tend to be very interested in seeing the project achieve success. Kickstarter lists a set of rules to follow if one is considering placing their project on the platform.
