Its very painful to watch. Its sad and just doesn't seem worth of what it helped scientists with, Artificial human organs. I hope ist fake, but even its not fake, it should just be removed and never be posted.

This is real. i do not see why do not think it is. ignoring crulety does not prevent it. I do, howvever beleive that this experement had some cause, for it helped create vital artificail organs which, in turn, have saved many human lives. All you people posting about "the people who think this is real should die" are no better than the conductors of this experiment.

Why complain about it? These sort of test where and are still nessacery. The average human life expectanty used to be about 45 years old, so without these experiments on animals you probly would have died from the common cold when you where a child because you would not of received your medicine that had been tried and tested on animals or you would not have received your life saving heart transplant because no one experimented like the above video. Medical testing on animals is why we now live so long! Why criticise it?

It was done professionally. 70 years ago they just didn't have all the instruments we have now. Besides they had no way of "calculating" or knowing when they would have a more technologically fancy era.

I don't see why you guys are getting so angry about it. The head lived for 3 days, I know it seems cruel but would you take a couple dogs' lives in order to add 30-40 years on to hundreds of thousands of lives. If you feel so strongly about it, then don't ever go to the doctor's or the hospital and die a young death. When forced to decide, I am sure you would choose to accept this experiment and other questionable experiments.

This is so freakishly weird. I am glad that good things came out of this, but I don't think most of us who have any sort of healthy connection with our feelings can actually torture an animal and feel good about ourselves afterwards. Even if it is for the better of science and humanity. It is a reminder that if one is really a scientist they have to disassociate themselves from their feelings towards any creature they experiment on. Eek!

See this may or may not be true. The fact is the brain needs the blood, which is what they pumped. Everything makes perfect since. If it was true, the experiment had a valid cause. Think of all the lives it did save. If it's fake you don't have to worry about it. Of course animal cruelty is wrong, but how do you expect to figure anything out without experiments? It's a nessicary evil.

This was the 1940's and though some dogs might have died, millions of people are saved. This progressed everything when it comes to technology. Artificial organs, hospitals as we know today, and keeping people alive that would have died from bleeding out.

If given the choice I'd take the blood transfusion derived from killing you and keeping your head alive for the remaining three excruciating days of your life rather than the dog.
