INTERESTING FACT

Dogs Head Lives Without Body

In 1940 Dr. S.S. Bryukhonenko at the Institute of Experimental Physiology and Therapy, Voronezh, U.S.S.R conducted research where he experimented with dogs and proved that dogs head can live without its body for three days. Special artificial conditions were created to power the head with arterial and venous pumps. Dog's isolated head reacted to all basic external stimulants: light, sound, pain and taste. This disturbing Russian experiment helped scientist around the world to create artificial organs that are used by many medical institutes. More recently Dr. Robert White of Ohio claims that he transplanted a monkey's head onto another monkey's body. If you have a good stomach check this odd video which shows in detail how dog's head is living without body.

To the people who say "Dont watch the video if you don't like it, or it's just how life is etc" BULLSHIT! LIFE DOESNT HAVE TO BE THIS WAY!... Scientist out there claiming they are the "smart" ones... they should easily find another way of finding out facts, without hurting poor animals! If their so smart... FIND OTHER WAYS FOR EXPERIMENTING!

Thats ****ing cruel... anyone who hurts animals altogether should die a very painful death... better yet... keep them alive and torture them for the rest of their lives... I HATE ANIMAL CRUELTY!!!...

WOW you ppl like to complain dont you! Its just a video from FOREVER ago...there is pros and cons to everything! yes poor dog, but this is the primitive experimental stage of the crazy technologies we have today! Dont like it...dont watch it.

very interesting. I think that is what we had to learn to be able to do everything we do to humans now. It was very painful to watch just the head though.. wish it was a human head.. poor dog!

i believe that some experiments are needed.. but i strongly disagree with william first off there's no need to use profanity and yes this may make me look (soft) but i honestly could care less i drop F bombs all the time but you need to learn when its appropriate and in this discussion it isn't.. next what they did to that dog was cruel not only was it in horrible pain but it also died we learned things from this.. i understand that.. every life has value.. maybe you should volunteer and have your head chopped off for the greater good of science i don't know but what i do know is that you shouldn't disrespect any living thing.. if u like killing small defenseless animals then you need to see a doctor because those are signs of a potential serial killer...

Whether I agree with the above is neither here nor there. I just have this to say: attend english class. Stop polluting a potentially stimulating forum with your awful prattle. There are some people who truly are interested in what all of you have to say, but this is worse than trying to read a firstgrader's handwritten report. For example:

"sort your lifes out for ****s sake, the human race has become so soft, dont hurt this dont hurt that, you cant do this that whatever, grow up centuries of our race have lived through murder war, and hardship, and your sickened by a video of a dog being experimented with, no ****er would have the balls to put his hand up and volentier for research, so screw yourself, arse holes !"

The word is spelled "volunteer", not "volentier".
Seriously?

Anyways, I happen to agree. I think people need to thicken their skin. As terrible as some experiments may seem, they really are necessary.

Thats terrible! they might as well kill the poor thing and put it out of its misery instead of making it suffer like that. Completely pointless experiment....

Yes, it's cruel, but guys it was in the 1940s, you're not changing anything by complaining about it now. I'm a vegetarian/animal rights activist, but I can't deny how amazing and unfathomable these videos are, and I really do think they helped science out.

Theres really no need to say "fcuk all of you" now is there. Don't be so ridiculous, its not nice but there has been a good outcome. Get over it, or volunteer for it yourself if your so concerned about the dog.

See this may or may not be true. The fact is the brain needs the blood, which is what they pumped. Everything makes perfect since. If it was true, the experiment had a valid cause. Think of all the lives it did save. If it's fake you don't have to worry about it. Of course animal cruelty is wrong, but how do you expect to figure anything out without experiments? It's a nessicary evil.

Hurensohn
When a dog has an infected kidney and needs it removed, they cut the dog open and take it out. Because they are helping the dog its not cruel, right?

Apply those morals to this experiment and you'll see it's not cruel at all...

This is so freakishly weird. I am glad that good things came out of this, but I don't think most of us who have any sort of healthy connection with our feelings can actually torture an animal and feel good about ourselves afterwards. Even if it is for the better of science and humanity. It is a reminder that if one is really a scientist they have to disassociate themselves from their feelings towards any creature they experiment on. Eek!

I don't see why you guys are getting so angry about it. The head lived for 3 days, I know it seems cruel but would you take a couple dogs' lives in order to add 30-40 years on to hundreds of thousands of lives. If you feel so strongly about it, then don't ever go to the doctor's or the hospital and die a young death. When forced to decide, I am sure you would choose to accept this experiment and other questionable experiments.

It was done professionally. 70 years ago they just didn't have all the instruments we have now. Besides they had no way of "calculating" or knowing when they would have a more technologically fancy era.

i wouldnt mind if it was done professionally. it clearly wasnt. i think people need to wait another 5-10 years before similar experemintations.

im sure the head just died later that day. GO figure, experiment complete, dog dead.

Soon enough people will be much better at calculations and wouldnt need to use experimental individuals

if that dog's head is real.......
its either one of the cruelest things ive seen, or patheticly fake.
